Low labour food waste dewaterer
The Dehydra Maxi can process up to 700kg of food waste per hour, reducing the volume by as much as 80% and the weight by 50%.
This model has been designed for high food waste volume sites (over 300kg / day) that want to minimise the labour input for processing the wastes. With a large hopper and screw feed to the macerator, the hopper can be loaded with up to 90 litres full and then set to process automatically. The hydro extractor is located at head height, meaning that the treated wastes can be decanted into wheeled bins.

Our Maxi food waste macerator is the industrial food waste dewatering unit of choice for sites which generate lots of food waste daily. Its large capacity means it can process food waste loads in timely three-minute, 90-litre batches.
It is also revolutionary in design, compared to traditional macerating and dewatering solutions which would typically require machine operatives to ‘drip feed’ the food waste into the hopper at regular intervals.
However, the Maxi’s sophisticated construction incorporates a large loading hopper with an automatic screw feed auger – which drives the food into an in-built macerator.
As a result, the operator can simply load the machine, switch it on and leave it to do the rest – saving many man hours in the process.
The Maxi can also be provided with the ‘high level’ dewatering unit, which decants the dewatered food wastes from head height. This allows the unit to fill directly into wheeled bins, which saves on labour, when compared to using caddies.
How does the Maxi Bulk Feed food waste dewatering system work?
Operatives feed the food waste into the hopper in 90-litre batches – where it is ground into small particles by the in-built food waste disposer (FWD). The resulting material is then pumped from the FWD into the hydro-extractor – where an auger and 1.5mm-holed fine-mesh screen separate the liquid from the ground food waste.
This process ensures that all ‘grey water’ is fed directly into the drain, while the solids are captured effectively.
Once the food waste has been successfully removed, the system automatically self-cleans – the hydro-extractor screen, ensuring that no blockages occur, and the dewatering efficiency is maintained.
